Phasing Analysis

Phasing Analysis is at the heart of everything that Sentient Trader does. A Phasing Analysis is an analysis performed according to cyclic principles, and the results of the analysis are:

Using these two pieces of information one can forecast when to expect the next trough of each cycle. And using a statistical evaluation of recent waves of each cycle, one can predict the range of time in which the next trough is expected.

Note that the same cannot be done for the peaks of cycles, because of the combination of the Principle of Synchronicity and the Principle of Summation, which results in the fact that troughs are synchronized and more easily forecast than peaks, which are not synchronized and are more affected by time displacement.

Hurst's Cyclic Theory

The phasing analysis performed by Sentient Trader is a very faithful replication of the process advocated by JM Hurst in his Cycles Course. Note that the phasing analysis process that Hurst presented in the Cycles Course is a very different and much more advanced process than that presented in his book Profit Magic Of Stock Transaction Timing.

For a better understanding of Hurst's Cyclic Theory, read this brief introduction.

Viewing the analysis

Sentient Trader performs a full phasing analysis, and makes trading decisions on the basis of that analysis. As a successful Sentient Trader you will want to view that analysis, and perhaps even influence the analysis with your own analysis expertise.

The analysis can be viewed in several ways:

Performing an analysis

Performing an analysis with Sentient Trader is very simple. However before performing an analysis there is one very important thing that you need to do, and that is to define an analysis period, which is the period of time which is analyzed by Sentient Trader.

Take a look at this video which explains that process:

Having defined an analysis period, you are ready to perform a phasing analysis. This is done by simply clicking on the Analyze button:
