The Sentient Trader Daily Routine

With everything installed and set up, you are ready to go!

Whether you are working with the sample workspaces supplied with the Sentient Trader trial, or EOD workspaces that you have created yourself, you will quickly discover that there is a routine that you need to follow on a regular basis. This is what we call the Sentient Trader Daily Routine. It is a routine you will perform if you are working with the EOD version of Sentient Trader (or working with EOD workspaces in the Intraday version of Sentient Trader). The process of working with intraday workspaces in the Intraday version of Sentient Trader is very different, and is discussed in the section about working intraday.

Note that ideally you should perform this routine every day, but if you prefer to only monitor your trading situation once a week, then you could do that, but the accuracy of your trade entries and exits will be markedly diminished, resulting in less successful trading. The daily routine is not very time consuming, and so it is strongly recommended that you do it every day (OK, we'll give you the weekends off).

The Routine

The daily routine consists very simply of:

Fortunately the updating of the analysis and the making of trading decisions is performed automatically by Sentient Trader whenever you open a workspace. And there is even more good news! You can automate the process of opening workspaces by scanning a list of workspaces in Sentient Trader, and so there are in fact only two things to do:

Updating your data

The process of updating your EOD data depends entirely on your data provider.

If you are working with Ninja Trader (as you would be if you are using the Sentient Trader trial) then learn about updating your data here.

Updating the analysis and trading

Updating an analysis and making trading decisions in Sentient Trader is really simple. All you need to do is open the workspace!

Sentient Trader will detect that there is new data, and will update the analysis and make all the trading decisions.

Of course if you have many workspaces (as you are likely to) then you might not want to open each and every one of them individually ... This is where you are going to start feeling grateful! Because the process can be completely automated by scanning a watchlist. The scan that you will make as a part of your daily routine is a full scan.

Getting Started - Trial Routine

If you are following the getting started process (such as if you are working with the trial version of Sentient Trader) then there are a few things you need to do to get yourself up and running with your daily routine:

When you get back with your coffee it will be time to understand the results of the scan.
