Getting Started

Congratulations on choosing Sentient Trader, software which will revolutionize your trading, and will change your financial future for ever.
If you are currently working with the TRIAL version of Sentient Trader then we strongly recommend following the getting started process in order to make the most of your trial, and help you get to know the software within your 30 day trial period.

An introduction to Sentient Trader

Sentient Trader is a software application with many features. There are two editions of Sentient Trader:

• Trader Edition - this is the FULL version of Sentient Trader. This edition of the software performs analysis and includes full trading functionality.
• Analyst Edition - this version of Sentient Trader performs a full cyclical analysis, and has no trading functionality.

Here is an overview of the functionality of Sentient Trader.

Trader & Analyst editions both include:

• Analyze any financial market according to the full cyclic theory of JM Hurst (as published in JM Hurst's Cycles Course).
• Influence the analysis according to your own expertise to match your current analysis opinion. 
• Create your own nominal models to form the basis for the analysis performed (if you believe different cycles are active in the market).
• Scan watchlists to:
• Produce forecasts of expected cycle troughs in order to plan your trading. 

Trader edition (in addition to above):

• Produce real-time trading signals (trade orders) according to: 
  • Hurst's trading methodology. 
  • An advanced trading methodology called sentient trading. 
  • Manual trading signals generated on the basis of cyclic tools (FLD & VTL). 
• Backtest the trading and analysis process by building trading histories.  
• Manage your trading process through the use of:
• Single instrument trading histories and trading reports. 
• The keeping of per-instrument trading journals. 
• Portfolio tracking, and reporting of multiple instrument portfolios.
• Scan watchlists to:
  • Generate trading signals. 
  • Monitor open trades. 
  • Produce forecasts of expected cycle troughs in order to plan your trading. 

EOD and Intraday

This full functionality is available in both the End of Day (EOD) and Intraday versions.

The Intraday version allows the following additional functionality:

• Analyze cycles as short as 3 minutes, and trade cycles as short as 20 minutes.
• Update the analysis in real-time, as often as once a minute.
• Generate live trading signals, which can be submitted directly to various trading platforms.
• Open multiple workspaces simultaneously to trade several markets at the same time.
  

Learning to use Sentient Trader

Sentient Trader is a complex software application which is a very powerful tool in the hands of a user who knows what they are doing. But like any power tool it is dangerous in the hands of a user who doesn't know what they are doing!

We therefore recommend that before you perform any actual analysis or trading with the software, you learn how to use it! This user manual will help you to do exactly that.

We recommend that you start by following the getting started process and work with the bundled workspaces that are available to support your learning process (these workspaces are downloaded automatically with the trial version of the Trader Edition, and are an optional component of the full version of the Trader Edition). If you would rather learn by finding your own way through this user manual, you are of course very welcome to do that.
